What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parks Maintenance Projects Supervisor position at City of Hillsboro Oregon?
Our Parks & Recreation department is currently searching for a Parks Maintenance Projects Supervisor in our Parks Maintenance division. This role has a unique, behind the scenes, opportunity to support the biggest events in Hillsboro such as our seasonal ice rink, boat launch, and spray grounds across multiple parks and facilities throughout Hillsboro. The work done with the Projects Crew may look different each day but is an excellent opportunity to work with a great team within Parks & Recreation, the City, and vendors and contractors. This role is essential in bringing not only recreation throughout parks, but implementing safety items and building on the experience our communities have in Hillsboro.
This position manages a team of 4 fulltime employees and some seasonal workers who install the kayak launch at Rood Bridge each summer, maintain the water play features at the Civic Center and in the parks, install the ice rink for Winter Village, install and maintain many of the park assets, and work closely with other divisions in Parks & Recreation and other departments.
As the Supervisor you prioritize their work assignments to meet division and department priorities and goals to:
- Collaborate with managers and employees throughout the Parks & Recreation Department
- Come up with creative solutions to solve challenges
- Oversee operation and maintenance of the water play features at city facilities
- Manage the repair and replacement of sidewalks, trails, bridges, and boardwalks in and around parks properties.
Current and Upcoming Projects:
- Installation of the kayak launch in May and removal in September
- Startup and operation of the water play features through the summer season.
- Support for larger special events that take place through the Parks Special Events team
- Installation and maintenance of the ice rink at Winter Village
- Repairs of parks assets that need repairs or replacement
- Supporting the team at the Jackson Bottom Wetlands

Bilingual incentive pay available
Preference may be given to candidates who are bilingual in Spanish/English. Employees who can demonstrate the ability to speak Spanish, or any language spoken by over ten percent (10%) of City residents as documented by the most recent U.S. Census, at a proficiency level determined by a fluency test administered by the City, will receive a monthly premium of three percent (3%) of their regular base pay.
