Position Overview: What You'll Be Doing
We’re excited to announce two full-time openings for Day Porters! Each role will support our facilities with a unique focus: one primarily based at the Shute Park Aquatic & Recreation Center (SHARC) and Hidden Creek Community Center, and the other at Hidden Creek Community Center and our Water Treatment facility in Forest Grove.
As a Day Porter, you will be a key member of our janitorial team, dedicated to keeping city facilities clean and operationally ready. Working closely with facility liaisons, you will respond to daily needs and uphold high standards of service and care across our sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform essential cleaning duties, including safely managing bio-hazard cleanups.
- Stock and sanitize restrooms, ensuring a clean and welcoming experience for visitors.
- Manage waste and recycling to maintain a sustainable, clutter-free environment.
- Conduct general area cleanups (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming) and handle emergency cleaning requests, such as spills and unclogging of toilets and sinks.
- Maintain an organized inventory of supplies to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Provide friendly, responsive customer service to enhance the experience of visitors and staff.
You'll have the opportunity to work in community-focused spaces like our recreation centers, helping maintain a clean, inviting atmosphere that promotes community engagement.
What You'll Need to Succeed:
- Skills: A proactive, problem-solving approach, strong communication, and a commitment to high standards of cleanliness and safety. Flexibility and an ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities are essential.
- Experience: At least two years of commercial janitorial experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Traits: A respectful, team-oriented attitude and a willingness to contribute positively to our collaborative workplace.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- At least two years of janitorial experience, or a comparable blend of education and experience that supports the job’s essential duties.
- A valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- City-provided Bloodborne Pathogens training, completed within 30 days of hire.
- Ability to pass an extensive background investigation
