Salary Range:  

  • Electrical Inspector I $86,624 - $ 113,991 annually 
  • Electrical Inspector II $93,692 - $123,292 annually
Placement on range determined by relevant experience presented in applications materials. 
Full-time, non-exempt position plus full benefits package.

While inspections will be the focus of the position, you will also have the opportunity to complete electrical plan review on exciting and interesting projects.

The Inspector II position is distinguished from Inspector I by performing inspections of commercial, industrial, and multi-family buildings which requires additional certifications and years of experience to perform the work.

 

What You Will Be Doing 

  • Maintain records, reports, inspection tracking and progress documents, drawings, plans, and other required documents in accordance with applicable regulations and retention procedures.
  • Manage records and information in any format, in accordance with applicable statutes, regulations and City policy, guidance and records retention schedule.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned. Performs field inspections of residential, commercial, industrial, and public new construction to ensure compliance with the State Building Code and other related laws, standards, and regulations; reviews plans and construction documents prior to and during inspections, and tracks and monitors plan compliance throughout construction in collaboration with plan review staff.
  • Plan routes for daily assigned inspections to ensure that they are completed in a timely and efficient manner; communicates inspection results promptly according to City policy.
  • Provide required corrective measures, regulatory action reports, and related written correspondence; prepares and maintains inspection files and records utilizing computer and related devices.
  • Communicate with citizens and stakeholders to align generally accepted construction practices with State Building Code, and if necessary educate to find the best path to correction of deficiencies.
  • Provide technical assistance, in person, over the phone, and through electronic media, with inquiries related to new construction inspection; communicates code interpretations, explains policies and procedures, recommends solutions, and/or directs concerns to appropriate resource for additional information or resolution; provides ongoing technical support to Permit Technician staff.

Job Qualifications & Requirements 

(At time of application in addition to the skills, knowledge and abilities listed above)  

Associate’s degree in Construction or Industrial Technology or a closely related field, and 2 - 4 years of building construction related experience; or, any combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.


Licensing/Certifications

Depending on assignment, some positions may require:

  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record
  • All State of Oregon approved certifications in one of the following two categories:
