The City of Hillsboro's Communications Division is hosting a Communications Intern this summer! Your role as an intern will not only contribute to enhancing community relations but also provide valuable insights into the day-to-day activities across the City of Hillsboro. By actively engaging with our City Departments and some public events, you'll play an important role in promoting what's happening in Hillsboro to our community. This internship will include social media content creation, photography, and video editing, giving you the opportunity to implement fresh ideas into the City’s communication efforts.

Depending on assignment, some positions may require:
Preference may be given to candidates who are bilingual in Spanish/English. Employees who can demonstrate the ability to speak Spanish, or any language spoken by over ten percent (10%) of City residents as documented by the most recent U.S. Census, at a proficiency level determined by a fluency test administered by the City, will receive a monthly premium of three percent (3%) of their regular base pay.

- Photography Needs Assessment.
- Collaborate with the Communications Team and other City Departments to assess their photography requirements.
- Identify key areas and moments suitable for photography of our City facilities, parks, and more.
- Photo Archiving System:
- Work closely with team members to establish and maintain an organized photo archiving system.
- Ensure easy access to past and current visual content.
- City Website Review & content generation
- Translation best practices support.
- Community events support for planning, set up, and tabling.
- Supporting the creation of City facility descriptions/profiles for third party software.
- Understanding different jobs such as: Graphic Design, Website, Digital Content, PIO's, and more).
Must be enrolled in an educational institution (secondary or post-secondary), studying social media marketing, marketing, communications, videography, or related field; or have graduated within the last 3 months. Level of education and experience needed will vary based on assignment requirements.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS:
Depending on assignment, some positions may require:
- Possession of a valid State Driver's License and safe driving record.
