GENERAL DESCRIPTION Performs skilled work in the maintenance, repair, alteration and remodeling of buildings, offices at The Center of Recreational Excellence (CORE) and other city facilities as needed. The CORE is a 159,000 sq. ft. multi-generational recreation center. The position will report to the CORE Facility Maintenance Supervisor.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIESPerforms carpentry, masonry, and other construction work at the CORE such as facility renovation/repairs. Determines appropriate work methods, tools and materials for maintenance and repair activities ensuring compliance with building code and that proper operational and safety guidelines and procedures are followed. Repairs or constructs articles and structures of wood and metal, such as room partitions, counters, desks, chairs, cabinets, countertops, tables, fences, wood framing and metal stud framing. Does inspections and makes minor repairs to Thermoplastic Polyolefin (TPO) roof; installs drop-in ceilings and acoustical ceiling work. Installs windows and sashes, doors, floors, carpet, and walls. Installs drywall to include sheet rock, taping and bedding, texturing and painting.Assists in installing concrete walkways including building forms, pouring and finishing concrete, and installing or repairing concrete structures, curbs, footers and walls, block walls, and fence installation. Provides assistance to City building maintenance, electricians, and plumbers, Parks Department and Recreation Department as needed. Performs housekeeping and grounds keeping to all work areas. Performs activities according to federal and/or state guidelines for public safety and follows OSHA safety requirements. Conducts on-call duties as assigned performing emergency repairs after normal duty hours, weekends, and holidays.Operates and maintains equipment and machinery used in construction and repair such as a nail gun, air compressor, table saw, miter saw, routers, jig saw, forklift, transit, jackhammer, concrete saw, hand tools, powers tools and pneumatic tools on a regular basis.
