What are the responsibilities and job description for the LIBRARY PAGE (PART TIME) position at City of Hobbs?
Performs entry-level clerical and public contact tasks related to the circulation of all material in the library collection and other public services offered by the Library.
- Shelves returned library material in the correct location using the Dewey Decimal System or other alphabetical or numeric based organizational systems.
- Assist library patrons seeking assistance on routine matters such as location of materials and basic computer operation issues while performing shelving duties.
- Assist public when assigned to the circulation desk by answering phone and responding to routine inquiries. Receives incoming library materials from public and checks library materials out to eligible library patrons.
- Monitors library collection to maintain in a neat and orderly condition. Shifts library materials to insure that certain sections of the collection storage systems do not get overloaded and/or under utilized.

This position is subject to the City of Hobbs’ Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy which includes one or more of the following: pre-employment testing, post accident testing, random testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return to duty testing and follow-up testing.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent or currently enrolled in high school.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability to learn Dewey Decimal System and other alphabetic and/or numeric library material classification systems and place library materials in the proper place pursuant to these systems.
- Ability to interact with the public on routine inquiries in a courteous manner in accordance with established Library policies and procedures.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with library staff and the general public.
- Valid state issued driver's license.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk and use hands and arms to push a moderately heavy wheeled cart in a level indoor setting and place books or other materials over one foot above their head or below their knees. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
