SUMMARY:
Street Technician is a full-time position under the direction of the Street Supervisor who will perform manual labor and semi-skilled work in the construction, maintenance, repair, and rehabilitation of streets, curbs, gutters, storm drains, and related structures, including pouring asphalt and concrete, crack sealing, patching, painting, or other duties necessary for the maintenance and repair of City streets. Operates and maintains various hand tools, power tools, and equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs various tasks associated with infrastructure, construction, and maintenance of City streets.
- Right-of-way mowing.
- Street sign repair and replacement.
- Operates hand and power tools in the completion of assigned tasks.
- Operates tractors, mowers, line trimmers, and other types of equipment.
- Performs operator maintenance on various assigned equipment.
- Operates snow removal equipment when necessary.
- Assists in all Public Works Department projects as required.
- Performs all duties in compliance with departmental safety procedures.
- Works in adherence to safe practices, procedures, worksite, and traffic laws.
- Assist other departments when needed.
- Represents the City and department by performing various functions at meetings, occasions, and public events.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/LICENSING/CERTIFICATION
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an insurable driving record.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- This position requires a forty (40) hour workweek. Scheduled work hours are 6:00am to 2:30pm, Monday through Friday. Hours may vary according to weather conditions or by supervisory authorization.
- The employee may be subject to emergency call-ins.
- Have the ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and during urgent or emergency situations.
- Pre-employment and random drug testing are required.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen.
- The employee is required to use their hands to touch/manipulate, handle, or feel.
- The employee is required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Performs bending, squatting, climbing, twisting, kneeling, and reaching ground level and overhead.
- Holds and grips objects and is subject to working in awkward positions and prolonged walking, sitting, or standing.
- Lifts and/or carries up to sixty (60) pounds, pushes and/or pulls up to one hundred (100) pounds with assistance as required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The employee may be
- Exposed to extreme weather conditions, hazardous chemicals, dust, fumes, gases, odors, mists, or other irritating particles of organic and inorganic nature.
- Exposed to slippery or uneven walking surfaces and other types of terrain.
- Exposed to vibration and constant and extreme noise that is usually moderate to loud.
- Exposed to mechanical hazards associated with equipment repair and electrical hazards.
- Subject to safety hazards due to traffic, weather, and other conditions encountered in daily Public Works operations.
