Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and reliable custodian to join our team at the City of Homer Alaska. As a Temporary Building Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of all city buildings, including City Hall, Police Department, Library, Port, Port Maintenance, Public Works, Public Works Operations, and Airport Terminal.
Responsibilities:
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, refill paper and soap dispensers, and ensure they are well-stocked.
- Sweep, vacuum, mop, scrub, wax, shampoo, and spot clean carpeting and floors according to schedules.
- Clean light fixtures and blinds to maintain a safe and healthy environment.
- Dust all public areas to prevent dust buildup and maintain a clean appearance.
- Empty trash from receptacles and remove them to dumpsters in a timely manner.
- Maintain cleaning equipment and notify supervisors of any necessary repairs.
Requirements:
- At least two years of experience in janitorial work or a related field.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Must be at least 19 years old and pass a background investigation check.
- Valid driver's license required.
