General Function

Prepare reports on social media performance, audience demographics, and engagement trends to inform decision-making and strategy development. Collaborate with the department's IT and cybersecurity personnel to ensure the security and integrity of social media accounts and digital assets. Implement measures to protect against hacking, unauthorized access, and data breaches. Stay informed about emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in social media, public relations, and law enforcement.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Writes, creates, and develops both marketing and in-house publications and collateral materials, such as newsletters and brochures.
- Self-starter; focused; hard-working; ability to work well independently.
- Responds to public inquiries and comments professionally and in a timely manner.
- Ability to manage projects from inception to completion with excellent follow-through skills.
- Helps coordinate special events such as ground-breaking ceremonies, ribbon cuttings, and grand openings.
- Create graphics, videos, and written content that align with the department’s branding and mission.
- Designs invitations, programs, and other promotional materials for special events.
- Receives and responds to calls and e-mails from residents, visitors, and researchers looking for data and information on the City of Homestead Police Department.
- Works in conjunction with ITS Department to provide continuous updates to the City of Homestead website.
- Monitors and maintains the police departments social media platforms.
- Attends city meetings/events after hours as requested.
- Works with skill and obvious aptitude for computer software programs, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, and Microsoft Excel.
- Works with individuals at all levels, internally and externally, in a positive and professional manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Type Of Appointment/Work Hours
- Full-time/Regular in-person position.
- Standard workweek, which is forty (40) hours of work per week usually consisting of five (5) days of eight (8) hours per day. The workday may be varied for the efficient delivery of public service.
- Will be required to work other than the standard workweek on occasion, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Will be required to work occasional overtime or shift assignments, if applicable.

Requirements
- High school graduation or equivalency is required. Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or a related filed is preferred. Experience in social media management, public relations, or similar role.
- Excellent English-language written and oral communication skills, including vocabulary, syntax, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and proofreading ability.
- Well-developed ability to draft clear, concise, and effective work product, based on a main idea and the purpose of the document.
- Must possess knowledge and familiarity with Adobe PhotoShop, InDesign, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Spanish language, written and oral communication skills preferred.
- Capable photographer, as well as experience in package, brochure, newsletter, press release, and ad copy design and layout.
- Must possess a valid state of Florida driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Must pass a background screening process.
