Hiring Range: $19.52-$21.52/Hour

Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED and four (4) years experience in bookkeeping or accounting
OR
Associate's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field and one (1) year or more of related experience.
OR
Bachelor's Degree or higher in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field
Responsibilities
- Performs account payable in the maintenance of financial records, including, but not limited to, purchase orders, budget accounting, cash accounts, and library accounts.
- Performs purchase order and invoice functions, including, but not limited to, verifying purchase orders and invoices with general ledger account numbers, recording requisitions, preparing expenditure approvals, and disbursing payments.
- Enters and posts transaction data to maintain and update accounts and general ledger.
- Monitors adherence to proper policies and procedures at all stages of accounts payable.
- Monitors all departments at various stages of the accounts payable process to ensure all entries are complete and entered into the accounts payable system in a timely manner for the efficient completion of the accounts payable process.
- Performs mail operations such as sending, sorting, and filing; Prepares daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reports as requested
- Performs clerical functions as required, including answering phones, preparing correspondence, and retrieving and purging obsolete files.
- Maintains checking accounts, receipt books, and financial files in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Keeps immediate supervisor and designated others fully and accurately informed concerning work progress, including present and potential work problems and suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing such problems.
- Attends meetings, conferences, workshops, and training sessions and reviews publications and audio-visual materials to become and remain current on principles, practices, and new developments in assigned work areas.
- Responds to citizens' questions and comments in a courteous and timely manner.
- Communicates and coordinates regularly with appropriate others to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of city operations and activities.
- Performs other directly related duties as required.
