The successful candidate :
Location : Hybrid position
Type : Full-time (40 hours per week)
- This position requires occasional onsite work.
Responsibilities :
Develop communication strategies and manage execution, including materials development, media outreach, and managing internal project teams.
Manage outside writers in developing draft news releases, by-lined articles, and blog posts.
Lead regular media relations training sessions for high-profile doctors, researchers, and executive leaders.
Develop proactive media relations strategies, cultivate key media relationships, and secure positive press coverage to raise the national and local profile of City of Hope.
Plan, create, and secure approval for a range of written content for online and print publications.
Achieve consensus on messaging by consulting with clinical experts, City of Hope leaders, and members of the Office of Philanthropy.
Craft media materials such as news releases, videos, background information, key messages, media advisories, Q&As, and other tools for marketing new opportunities to the media and the public.
Requirements :
Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field (experience may substitute for minimum education requirements).
Five years of relevant experience in marketing and communications, including 1-2 years in a managerial capacity, with at least one year in healthcare marketing communications.
