CLASS SUMMARY:
It is the responsibility of the Paid-on Call Probationary Firefighter with the aid of the department's training division, to complete the required training courses as specified in the department's training standards. The Paid-on Call Probationary Firefighter will be assigned to a Captain for the purpose of orientation and familiarization and assigned to a company for supervision and performance evaluation. The Paid-on Call Probationary Firefighter will begin responding to emergency calls under the close supervision of officers and senior firefighters.

Minimum qualifications:
Positions in this class typically require climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of forces constantly to move objects.
Working Conditions:
Incumbents may be exposed to hazardous physical conditions, such as, mechanical parts, electrical currents, and vibrations; atmospheric conditions, such as fumes, odors, gases, and poor ventilation; hazardous materials, such as chemicals, blood, and other bodily fluids; extreme temperatures; inadequate lighting; work space-related movement restrictions; intense noise; other environmental conditions, such as, challenging behaviors, imminent danger, and threatening environments.

- Physical agility test: Saturday, April 12th 11:00 am

- Background check: preformed by Hopkins Police
- Psychological/Medical Exam: TBD
- Tentative start date: July 10th, 2025

- Perform tasks as assigned by an officer on the emergency scene or at the station.
- Attend department meetings, training sessions and drills as prescribed by the department's Rules and SOG’s.
- Be responsible for all property issued to them.
- Conduct themselves in a manner expected by the department.
- Make known to their company officer any problems.
- Actively participate in the department's and/or assigned company's work details.
- Be responsible for the completion of all training requirements of the FIREFIGHTER I LEVEL before the end of their probationary period.
- All other duties as assigned.
