Responsibilities
- Performs all the responsibilities and duties of a Plant Operator II, as outlined by the City of Horseshoe Bay, in a professional and experienced manner.
- Assists with on the job training and provides oversight of utility work and knowledge of Operator I and II positions.
- Operates and adjusts controls on equipment to purify / clarify water, process or dispose of sewage, and generate emergency power.
- Adds chemicals, such as ammonia, chlorine, and lime to disinfect and deodorize water and other liquids.
- Maintains treatment chemicals are at adequate levels and responsible for contacting vendors for timely delivery.
- Monitors all plant and lift station equipment and ensures effective maintenance is scheduled and performed for system dependability.
- Collects and tests water and sewage samples using test equipment and analysis standards.
- Inspects equipment and monitors operating conditions, meters, and gauges to determine load requirements and detect malfunctions.
- Flushes and maintains lines through operational adjustments.
- Records operational data, interprets data, and applies knowledge for outcomes in operations. Records meter and gauge readings on specific forms.
- Records daily information on hours, activities, personnel attendance.
- Combines, evaluates, and reasons with information and data to make decisions and solve problems. These processes involve making decisions about the relative importance of information and choosing the best solution.
- Compiles, codes, categorizes, calculates, tabulates, audits, verifies, or processes information or data.
- Estimates the characteristics of materials, products, events, or information; estimates sizes, distances, and quantities, or determines time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity.
- Controls computer functions by using programs, setting up functions, or otherwise communicating with computer systems.
- Performs all work done with primary regard to safety.
- Inspects equipment and tanks, or monitors operating conditions, meters, and gauges to determine load requirements and detect malfunctions.
- Collects and tests water and sewage samples, using test equipment and analysis standards. Pulls laboratory samples and conducts bacti testing.
- Abides by laws and regulations regarding use of personal protective equipment and helps enforce safety procedures within plant operations.
- May occasionally fill in for Plant Operations Supervisor.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
