General Description Of The Intern Duties

DON Executive Offices
The Social Media Development Intern will create high-quality social media content that explains who we are as an organization, shares updates on organization initiatives, and creatively engages with our audience. Additionally, the intern may assist with events and activities, support fundraising efforts, solicit donations, write press releases, schedule media appearances, and help with other department tasks related to the student’s placement goals.
Mayor's Office Houston Television HTV
Interns will receive training on professional video acquisition and editing with their personal mobile phones, then the HTV professional DSLR, and ENG cameras. All gear will be used to create content for the mayors office and Houston Television programming.
Mayor's Office Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs
Interns will work closely with the Director, exercise creative skills and support the City’s Make Music Day Houston celebration that will benefit the City and the creative economy. Intern will have the opportunity to create content for the City’s Civic Art Collection and administrative tasks.?

GENERAL INFORMATION
Thanks for your interest in the City of Houston's Youth Summer Jobs Program, which will run from June 9 – July 31, 2025. Interns will work 32 hours per week and earn $14 per hour . This program provides an excellent opportunity for you to earn and learn by becoming a member of the team that takes care of the residents of the nation’s 4th largest city.
Note - Successful candidates will be required to pass a background check.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The position is physically comfortable, the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. Some positions require working outside in varied weather conditions, and the ability to use certain tools.
There are no major sources of discomfort, i.e., essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditions. Some positions are outdoors and require the ability to function in warm/hot weather conditions.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to read, write, add, subtract and follow oral and basic written instructions. May have a basic knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation. May require a basic knowledge of a particular subject area. (Individuals may be high school students.) Must be 16 years of age or older.
