About our Department:
Huntsville Animal Services provides sheltering, enforcement, and prevention services for Huntsville and the unincorporated areas of Madison County. In partnership with community organizations, Animal Services provides a safety net for lost and homeless pets and is committed to sustaining the City’s goal of finding live outcomes for at least 90 percent of the companion animals that enter the shelter each year.
Animal Services Officer Position Overview:
This is enforcement work in Animal Services responsible for protecting, assisting, educating, catching, confining, caring for, and disposing of stray or diseased dogs or other wildlife animals in accordance with Animal Control Ordinances and State laws.
Qualifications and Necessary Special Requirements:
High school diploma from a school accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or GED certificate issued by the appropriate state agency and some experience with domestic and wild animals.
A valid driver's license is required.
