Job Summary

The primary responsibilities of this role include maintaining cleanliness and safety within the aquatics centers at all times, ensuring safety in overseeing water slide operations, and fostering a pleasant experience for guests. This is a part-time/seasonal position, working approximately 25 - 40 hours per week. Evening, weekends and some holidays are required.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Dispatches all guests properly through slide attractions in a safe and orderly manner while enforcing safety rules and regulations.
  2. Provides assistance and guidance to guests regarding water slide usage and safety protocols.
  3. Assists in organizing and overseeing poolside events or activities as needed.
  4. Follows established procedures for emergency response and evacuation protocols.
  5. Responsible for routine litter control around the pool deck area, restroom cleaning and maintenance, and keeping the general public areas of the aquatic centers in a clean and presentable condition at all times.
  6. Adheres to Hurst’s Code of Ideals and The Hurst Way. Fosters positive employee relations and employee morale on a City-wide basis.
  7. Performs related duties as directed when such duties are logical and appropriate.
  8. Regular and timely attendance are required for this position.
  9. Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers and others in the course of daily work.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean and organized environment.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting while prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Understanding of safety protocols and regulations related to pool operations.
  • Possess excellent customer service skills and can excel at applying the City of Hurst’s Code of Ideals in all interpersonal relations with city staff and the public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers. 
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time to operate standard office equipment, including computer keyboard, telephone, calculator, copier, fax machine, and printer.

Minimum Education, Certification, and Experience Requirements

  • Minimum age is 15 years old. 
  • Obtain Water Slide Dispatch Operator and Community CPR & AED certifications before June. Certification and training will be provided upon employment.
  • Previous grounds or building maintenance is preferred.
  • Must have regular and punctual attendance, reliable transportation, flexibility to work overtime, evenings, weekends, and some holidays, and respond to emergency situations during non-scheduled work hours.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.

This job entails moderate physical labor, which requires strength and agility.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to stand; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk and hear.  The employee is occasionally required to sit or smell.  The employee must occasionally lift and carry up to 40 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Majority of work is preformed outdoors and is subject to extreme heat and sun. Work performed is subject to chemical hazards.

Work may be subject to time pressures, emergency situations, frequent changes to tasks, working closely with others as part of a team, working alone 50% or more of the time, performing multiple tasks simultaneously, and dealing with difficult persons.
