Job Summary
When assigned to Water Distribution:
Monitors, inspects, and repairs pump station facilities, water metering vaults, and water storage tanks. Assists in recording pertinent and sensitive information regarding the water system. Monitor various water quality sample results on a daily basis. Must be available for overtime as needed. Must not be afraid of extreme heights in adverse conditions.
When assigned to Water Production:
Monitors, inspects, and repairs pump station facilities, water metering vaults, and water storage tanks. Assists in recording pertinent and sensitive information regarding the water system. Monitor various water quality sample results on a daily basis. Must be available for overtime as needed. Must not be afraid of extreme heights in adverse conditions.
When assigned to Wastewater:
Inspects, maintains and repairs all facets of the Wastewater Collection system such as sanitary sewer lines, lateral lines and manholes. Treating lines with a “jet truck” and televising/inspecting pipe with a camera. Must be available for overtime as needed.
Essential Job Functions
- Arrives at work on time prepared to work the assigned schedule.
- Works overtime as needed.
- Performs maintenance and repairs on water/sewer mains, fire hydrants, water services and water meters.
- Moves various equipment and tools to and from work trucks, loading and unloading.
- Performs landscaping work following repairs to the water utilities system.
- Operates and performs service and minor maintenance on equipment.
- Maintain worksite safety including the safety of co-workers and the general public
- Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate.
- Regular and timely attendance are required for this position.
- Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers and others in the course of daily work.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Ability to read and follow safety rules, City rules, codes, and instruction on proper use of safety equipment.
- Ability to learn to repair water and wastewater infrastructure such as water and sewer mains, fire hydrants, water meters, and service lines.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions to complete an assigned job.
- Ability to work and communicate with the public and co-workers.
- Ability to work in a team environment, contribute as a team member and treat co-workers and customers with respect.
- Physical ability and coordination to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Ability to learn to safely operate city vehicles such as service trucks, flatbed trucks, and other automatic transmission vehicles.
- Ability to perform strenuous physical labor, including standing, bending, stooping, lifting, reaching, twisting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time in adverse conditions, including extreme heat, cold, moisture, dust, and fumes, at various heights, and in confined spaces.
- Ability to work any day of the week and long hours.
- Ability to learn and complete essential functions of the position and successfully complete probationary period.
Minimum Education, Certification, and Experience Requirements
Must have a valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record as defined by City policy.
Must have regular and punctual attendance along with the flexibility to work overtime
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and essential job function screening.
