The Asset Systems Manager administers, maintains, and enhances the City's asset management system and geographic information system (GIS). This role ensures data integrity, security, and accessibility while providing technical support and training to city departments. The Asset Systems Manager also leads projects related to asset and records management technologies and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to improve operational efficiency.
A Day in the Life:
- Asset System Management:
- Monitor and maintain the performance of the asset management system.
- Install software upgrades and troubleshoot hardware/software issues.
- Ensure system security to prevent unauthorized access or data changes.
- User Support and Training:
- Collaborate with end-users to understand their needs and offer solutions.
- Conduct training sessions and provide ongoing technical assistance.
- Project and Data Management:
- Lead internal asset management projects, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
- Design custom databases and interfaces using suitable programming languages.
- Coordinate with stakeholders and external consultants to plan and implement projects.
- Technology Research and Development:
- Stay updated on asset management technology and best practices.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies for purchase and implementation.
- Regulatory Compliance and Reporting:
- Produce spatial and attribute data in various formats.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines.
- Professional Communication:
- Maintain clear communications with supervisors, coworkers, and external parties.
- Be available to respond promptly to team and external requests.
What You Will Need for Success:
- EDUCATION: A Bachelor's Degree Preferred in Computer Science, Information Technology, Geography, Urban Planning, Engineering or a related field. Alternatively , an Associate's degree in one of these areas combined with significant relevant work experience may be considered.
- EXPERIENCE: Three to five years of experience in asset management systems, GIS technology, or a related field. Demonstrated experience with ESRI software and GIS applications is essential. Previous experience working in the public sector, especially within municipal infrastructure management, is advantageous.
- LICENSE: Must possess a valid Kansas Driver's License.
