The Seasonal Golf Equipment Operator supports the daily operations of the golf course at Carey Park Golf Course under the direction of the Golf Course Superintendent. This role involves operating golf course maintenance equipment including mowers and utility vehicles. It may include minor routine maintenance of equipment including cleaning, fueling and greasing. This position does not perform driving duties, is under routine supervision, makes limited decisions and ensures compliance with city policies and golf industry standards. There are multiple work schedules and variations within this position.
A DAY IN THE LIFE:
Mowing and Equipment Operation
- Mowing: Operate golf course mowers on tees, approaches, fairways, greens, roughs, banks, collars, etc. in a safe and efficient manner, following designated routes to achieve desired results.
- Other Equipment: Effectively operate machinery such as utility vehicles, aerators, seeders, tractors and rollers in a safe and efficient manner following designated routes to achieve desired results.
Equipment Care
- Clean all machinery after use at wash pad facility according to instruction.
- Fuel equipment after each use and record all information as designated.
- When applicable, grease machinery after use as instructed.
- Assist with other equipment maintenance as needed, such as changing blades on rotary mowers.
Communication
- Communicate with golfing public in a professional and courteous manner.
- Direct all questions and concerns to supervisor.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED FOR SUCCESS:
- EDUCATION: No high school diploma or GED required
- LICENSE: A valid Kansas driver's license is required
- OTHER: 4-8 hours a day, flexible. Potential of 5:30 a.m. start time.
This is a seasonal position (under 1,000 hours) and is not a KPERS covered position
