What are the responsibilities and job description for the Funland Ride Operator Lead position at City of Idaho Falls?
Perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled lead duties for Funland at the Zoo. Will also support guest service operations at Funland at the Zoo when needed. Maintains professional standards in customer service and offer zoo staff assistance as needed.
This position is temporary in nature and typically works approximately 30 hours per week including evenings, holidays, and weekends.Oversees the day-to-day operations of carnival rides, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and efficient utilization of all resources. Enforces strict adherence to safety guidelines and regulations, conducting routine inspections and audits to mitigate risks and hazards. Provide preventative maintenance under Funland Manager supervision to maintain and uphold optimal performance standards.
Provides schedules, guidance, training, and all support to ride operators and operates rides, fostering a culture of safety, accountability and teamwork.
Sets up and closes down the rides and provides daily oversight of operations for Funland Amusement Park.
Maintains accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections and incident reports for management reviews and regulatory compliance
Cleans and maintains Funland rider areas, offices, equipment and tool storage areas. Evaluates Funland facilities and informs Funland management of repairs needed, whether extensive or minor.
Assists in the coordination and implementation of special and rental events with the Funland Manager

Education and Experience:
A. An ability or aptitude to perform above duties.
AND
B. At least one (1) year of progressively responsible work experience related to the above duties; previous supervisory and/or shift lead experience highly desirable
OR
C. An equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to provide supervision of daily Funland Operations.
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with supervisor, fellow employees, the public and Zoo/Funland staff; ability to follow verbal and written instructions and ability to give verbal and written instructions.
- Knowledge of the Spanish language (speaking) is also highly desirable
- Ability to be self-motivated, possess a positive attitude and work with little supervision. Willingness to work in high traffic demanding environment
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
MUST be available to be scheduled Mondays and Thursday-Sunday. Schedule always includes weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings with minimum of two weeks' notice. Must exhibit excellent customer service skills and be able to work both as a team and independently. Must follow all Funland safety protocols and procedures. Must be able to lift 30 pounds. Must possess a valid Idaho State Driver's License.Final candidates will be subject to a background check prior to employment. Candidates under 18 years of age will require a parent or guardian signature on the background check form. The final candidate may be subject to a background check.
Tasks require a variety of minimal physical activities. Physical demands include walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, lifting, etc. Talking, hearing, reading, and seeing required in the daily performance of job duties. Exposure to weather, environmental hazards and dangers resulting from working around dangerous animals and equipment are moderate. Mental application utilizes memory for details, emotional stability and discriminating thinking and creative problem solving.
