The City of Idaho Falls Power/Fiber is currently recruiting for a Workflow Accountant. In this position you will be responsible for financial reporting including general accounting, work orders, grant administration, miscellaneous billings, contracts, and capital projects.

Administer and manage all active grants, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines which includes financial reporting, budgeting, progress reporting, milestone tracking, and reconciliation of funds. Maintain grant documentation, including financial reports, application materials, and compliance reports. Stay updated on grant compliance regulations to ensure all programs meet the appropriate guidelines.
Track grant activities including monitoring fund balances, expenditures, and project progress. Perform accounting functions such as grant-related financial reconciliation, reporting, and auditing to ensure accuracy and compliance with state and federal guidelines.
Provide regular updates and reports to the management team on grant status and financial tracking. Assist in preparing presentations, reports, and updates to utility senior leadership and Board on grant activities.
Assist the External Affairs Manager with the Community Benefits Plan (CBP) in collaboration with internal departments, focusing on engaging communities and labor groups, creating quality jobs, and ensuring diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
Assist the CFO in preparing detailed and accurate financial reports for Idaho Falls Power, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements. Play a key role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial records to uphold transparency and accountability.
Collaborate closely with the City of Idaho Falls Finance Department to ensure financial processes align with city-wide accounting standards and policies. This position will facilitate the integration of financial data, support reconciliation efforts, and assist in streamlining workflows between Idaho Falls Power and the Finance Department to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Oversee the preparation, reconciliation, and accuracy of power and fiber billing processes to ensure timely and precise financial transactions. This position will monitor billing systems, resolve discrepancies, and collaborate with internal departments to improve efficiency and maintain compliance with accounting standards.
Track and report financial activities related to capital projects, ensuring proper allocation and compliance. Coordinate and monitor the capital work order process to ensure project budgets and timelines are met with the close out process. Convert closed capital work orders into organizational mass assets and manage the retirement of outdated or obsolete assets in accordance with accounting practices.
Administer contracts and agreements to ensure alignment with terms, conditions, and organizational requirements.
Prepare and process requisitions to facilitate the procurement of goods and services.
Oversee the financial integration and operational efficiency of any new software implementations within the City of Idaho Falls. This role ensures that new systems align with accounting standards, streamline financial workflows, and enhance reporting capabilities.
Works safely and collaboratively across the utility in a team-oriented environment.

2. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Responsible for overseeing financial operations, including grant administration, budgeting, and accounting, with a thorough understanding of local, state, and federal grant programs and their compliance requirements. This role requires excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential to effectively convey information, maintain clear documentation, and support teamwork. Proficiency in financial tracking and reporting, along with expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, is critical to ensure accuracy and efficiency in all financial processes.

Must possess a valid Idaho Driver’s License.
This position is primarily office-based, with occasional local travel to attend meetings or conferences. Tasks require a variety of physical activities not generally involving muscular strain. Incumbent of the position performs in a typical office setting with appropriate climate controls. Salary : $68,973 - $101,254
