What are the responsibilities and job description for the PRT Turf Maintenance - Seasonal Maintenance Worker position at City of Independence?
TEMPORARY POSITION – SIX (6) MONTH MAXIMUM EMPLOYMENT TERM
Performs general park, athletic field and cemetery maintenance duties in City parks, field maintenance at Historical sites, athletic fields and facilities managed by the Parks, Recreation & Tourism Department. Operates push mowers, string trimmers, hand tools and grounds equipment, necessary to maintain park sites and works with other crews as required. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: School transcript required if currently enrolled. One year of park maintenance experience preferred. Valid driver’s license required. Knowledge of utilization of general tools. General park grounds and cemetery maintenance standards. Basic knowledge of park and grounds maintenance procedures. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Physical Demands: Walking, pushing and lifting standard equipment and tools. Sufficient strength to lift and carry 50-pound objects for varying distances. Sufficient clarity of hearing, visual acuity, and manual dexterity. May require bending, stooping, kneeling, stretching and other physical exertions working in trenches, climbing and working on ladders, and moving over rough or unfamiliar terrain.
Typical Working Conditions: Outdoor conditions including extreme heat/cold and adverse weather conditions. May include hazards involving the use of equipment and chemicals. Exposure to dirt and dust.
Normal hours of work 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM – may vary. Weekend and holiday assignments will be required.
Drug testing
