What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Coordinator - DPW position at City of Indianapolis and Marion County?
Position is responsible for ensuring accurate payroll activities in dual financial systems for all agency employees including the reporting, training, and maintenance of payroll information in various applications.Administers payroll policies and procedures per collective bargaining agreement.
Participates in formulating and executing payroll policy for the agency.
Reviews bi-weekly and weekly employee payrolls for accuracy and completeness.
Facilitates and verifies data transfers between timekeeping systems.
Answers questions and resolves problems between various financial systems.
Reconciliation of employee payable hours and payroll requirements.
Provides work direction in training supervisors and managers of our payroll system.
Serves as a liaison to City Payroll and employees.
Maintain existing payroll programs and procedure payroll reports.
Prepares various reports and payroll.
Prepares required forms for pay increases, promotions, retirements and deaths.
Provides insurance information and assist employees with enrollment/changes.
Primary point of contact for any changes in tax, benefit, or extended leave information.
Works with upper management to update wage projections to ensure budgetary compliance.

Working knowledge of KRONOS and PeopleSoft is highly recommended with the ability to learn and master a variety of software. Must have analytical ability and critical thinking skills. Excellent customer service, as speaking, writing and listening skills are crucial. Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines, maintain a flexible attitude, and work with diverse groups. Must be detail oriented and able to maintain confidential information.Actions are controlled by established policies, agreements, procedures and laws. Independent judgment is utilized on a daily basis.
