Position Summary
Position is responsible for the day-to-day care and treatment of the animals that are brought to the shelter. Position will perform duties pertaining to kennel maintenance, custodial responsibilities, and maintaining a disease-free environment for animals at the facility. Interacts with the public, fellow staff, community service, and volunteers professionally and with exceptional customer service. Is expected to work safely and maintain a consistency with ACCD vision and mission statements and beliefs, policy, and procedures. Must be able to obtain/maintain Euthanasia Certification from the Humane Society of the United States.

Qualifications
Must be able to handle, control, and load animals in excess of 50 lbs and perform manual labor. Ability to work from general instructions and safely operate all related equipment necessary to perform assigned tasks. May be required to work overtime which includes holidays and weekends. Must be able to communicate both in oral and written format.
Independent Judgment
Actions will be in compliance with the municipal code regarding animal control, as well as, in the standardized operational practices of the division and the current city policy and procedures manual.
Independent judgment will occur when determining the proper sequence of steps or when making minor variations from established methods.

- Responsible for Kennel maintenance.
- Cleans and disinfects the kennels.
- Responsible for feeding and direct care of animals.
