Position Description
The City of Inver Grove Heights Parks and Recreation is seeking a Outdoor Ice Rink Attendant to maintain outdoor rinks / warming houses. The outdoor rink attendant is responsible for the supervision and control of skaters; the warming house building; skating rink operation; opening and closing the warming house building; operation of rink lights; recording daily attendance of skaters using the facility; keeping the building clean; reporting accidents, injuries or property damage occurring at the skating area to his / her supervisor
Essential Job Functions
- Check the weather hotline for any possible closures.
- Maintains the rink rules, regulations, and policies, while ensuring the safety and enjoyment of skaters.
- Reports to work on time and in a professional manner. Must be present at all times during shift.
- Develops a positive rapport and provides great customer service with program participants.
- Opens facility, sets out necessary equipment on ice, and greets participants as they enter the building.
- Responsible for keeping the building main area and bathroom clean.
- Responsible for supervising and disciplining as necessary to ensure the rules and regulations are being enforced.
- Manages the warming house shelter building which includes maintaining the cleanliness of the building, operation of rink lights, clean and remove snow / ice from walkway outside of the building.
- Shovel rinks as necessary.
- Follow department emergency procedures, reporting accidents to supervisor, calling 911 if necessary.
- Complete report forms (hourly attendance, accidents, discipline, time sheets).
- Keep supervisors informed on property damage, building needs, accidents, injuries, etc.
- Secure building at the end of the night.

Supplemental Information
This position is seasonal from mid-December through mid-February (dependent on weather conditions). Shifts include weekday evenings and weekends. Must be able to work approximately 10-15 hours a week (can be flexible).
The City of Inver Grove Heights Parks and Recreation Department Warming House locations include : Groveland Park, Oakwood Park, and Skyview Park.
The City provides Paid Time Off (PTO) as required to comply with Minnesota's Earned Sick and Safe Time law. City employees are also required to participate in the Minnesota Public Employment Retirement Association (PERA), unless otherwise exempted. No other City benefits are provided unless mandated.
