The Controller determines, establishes, and monitors financial policies and procedures to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, internal controls, and purchasing requirements; provides supervision of accounting and purchasing operations; supports the maintenance of the general ledger; oversees production of monthly and annual financial reports; evaluates payroll and accounts payable processing; and delivers accounting system support. Duties will require meticulous attention to detail and excellent analytical skills. A Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field and a minimum of seven years governmental accounting experience, including four years supervisory experience, is required. Must have a CPA license, currently possessing a Texas license or obtaining Texas CPA licensure during the first year of employment. Must have knowledge of principles and practices of accounting, including General Accounting Standards Board (GASB) requirements and Generally Accepting Accounting Principles (GAAP) pronouncements. Hours include some evenings and weekends. A résumé must be submitted with application.
