What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant CIP Director position at City of Irving?
The Assistant CIP Director will oversee the city's design and construction projects and city facilities management, including new construction and existing building renovations, as well as facilities operations, routine maintenance and repairs. Duties include managing the annual work programs for the Building Maintenance, Custodial, Development Services and Project Management Divisions; representing the city with architects, engineers and contractors in the development of project specifications; providing project management for general construction of all CIP projects utilizing division staff and outside contractors; and assisting the director in preparing presentations and otherwise providing information for external meetings and / or management; and presenting to various committees and city council as needed. Additional duties include negotiating and hiring contractors and consultants for capital improvements and ensuring finished work complies with specifications, codes, and regulations; reviewing and occasionally negotiating various city property leases and agreements; overseeing the annual permitting and management of the franchise utility agreements including the small cell permitting and billing; managing the operations of the real estate and right-of-way processes to ensure that all the internal and external regulations and review processes are properly addressed; coordinating and administering the division and departmental budgets; and managing compliance with federal, state and municipal laws. A Bachelor's degree from accredited four-year college or university in relevant field of study and at least seven years of experience in management of vertical design and construction or trades, including a minimum of two years in a supervisory capacity; appropriate, valid, state-issued driver's license, or the ability to obtain one upon hire required. Professional Engineer license, Architect license, or Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred. A résumé must be submitted with application.
