What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Worker I position at City of Irving?
Duties, dependent upon assignment, may include assisting with installation and removal of roadway pavement markings using thermoplastic machine, hand-propelled paint striper, grinder and water-jet blasting equipment; and / or performing installation, maintenance and repair of various traffic signs, street markings, and other roadway traffic control devices; placing traffic cones and barricades; and cleaning and servicing tools, machinery, equipment and vehicles. Duties may also include clearing visual obstructions (primarily vegetation) from traffic control devices, intersections and sight lines. Duties will require operating various types of equipment, e.g. jackhammer, hydraulic tool system, cutting torch, chain saw and assorted hand tools. Must be able to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance; have basic computer skills; and have a valid Texas driver’s license. Six months of related experience is required. Normal hours are 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on a 9/80 schedule, though schedule will include some on-call duty, responding to after-hours trouble calls. Evening, weekend and holiday hours are sometimes required.

Salary : $36,612 - $51,612
