Description:
Duties: To supervise, assign, review and participate in the work of staff responsible for performing inspections and enforcing City Ordinances, and state laws related to vacant lots, dilapidated buildings, abandoned vehicles; to research legal descriptions and identify property owners; and to provide information and assistance to the public regarding city codes and ordinances. Receive complaints and notices of violation; assign work to inspectors; review inspection reports; enforce local codes and state laws relating to private property. Follow up on inspections to ensure compliance.
Qualifications: Four years of experience in building construction, code enforcement or a related field, including one year of supervisory or lead responsibility. Ability to obtain certification as a building inspector through SBCCI within one year of employment. Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12) grade supplemented by additional training in building construction, code enforcement or a related field.
PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT, APPLICANT RECOMMENDED FOR EMPLOYMENT SHALL BE REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY PASS A URINALYSIS AND/OR BLOOD TEST TO SCREEN FOR ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUG ABUSE.

To supervise, assign, review and participate in the work of staff responsible for performing inspections and enforcing City ordinances, and state laws related to vacant lots, abandoned vehicles and land use violations; to research legal descriptions and identify property owners; and to provide information and assistance to the public regarding city codes and ordinances.
Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise and review the work of staff responsible for providing housing code enforcement, property inspections, supervise removal of abandoned vehicles and equipment from private property; \within the Business License Division; receive complaints and notices of violation; assign work to inspectors; review inspection reports; enforce local codes and state laws relating to private property.
Follow-up on inspections to ensure compliance; provide continuous investigations until violations have been abated; generate specifications for compliance with violation notice.
Supervise and participate in the researching of property owners; research maps, index and related materials to determine legal property descriptions and locate owners.
Supervise and participate in the preparation of court cases; assemble files, data, facts, and photographs to assist in the prosecution of cases.
Prepare various reports on inspections activities; prepare and maintain records of inspections preformed.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience:
