- Asphalt preventative maintenance, construction, repair, and correction
- Curb and gutter repair
- Pothole repair
- Sidewalk maintenance, repair, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) ramp construction
- Soil road repair and stabilization
The Jacksonville Streets Division also oversees mosquito spraying and street sweeping, and also works with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) to assure that street lamps and state roadways in the City are well maintained.

General Description: The City of Jacksonville is seeking an energetic leader to serve as a Crew Leader in the Streets Division. Crew Leaders typically have a working knowledge of asphalt, concrete and construction repair of roads, sidewalks, ditches and catch basins. The Streets Crew Leader performs difficult skilled work supervising and participating in the work of a maintenance, repair or construction crew; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision. Supervision is exercised over an assigned work crew.Planning, overseeing and supervising the work of a crew preparing, maintaining or repairing municipal facilities and systems including streets, utilities and drainage facilities; operating construction or maintenance equipment; maintaining records and files; preparing reports.

- Assigns and supervises the work of semiskilled and/or skilled workers and equipment operators in the repair, maintenance or construction of streets, utility lines and facilities, and drainage facilities.
- Performs or assists in performing more difficult repair and construction tasks.
- Inspects work in progress to assure conformance with instructions.
- Makes and adjusts work assignments.
- Requisitions necessary equipment and materials.
- Maintains time and material records.
- Prepares work reports; maintains time sheets.
- Trains and instructs subordinates.
- Responds to complaints; determines liability and takes appropriate action.
- Contacts customers when service will be discontinued in their area.
- Operates a variety of medium and heavy equipment in performance of tasks.
- In certain Divisions, may require the direct supervision of inmates.
- Performs related tasks as required.
Possession of a Class B CDL or higher is required.
