What are the responsibilities and job description for the Temporary Parks Maintenance Worker position at City of Jacksonville NC?
The family oriented City Parks team is hiring Temporary/Seasonal Maintenance staff who want to be part of the Clean & Green Jacksonville team and learn to use the tools of the trade. You as a candidate, will be trained in the use of equipment and tools for assignments in Parks landscaping, maintenance and repair. This seasonal position is a great opportunity to learn some life skills, test out a new career path or bring your knowledge and skills to the team. The position is open to ages 18 and well suited for those seeking to enter the workforce after High School, home from college, or those looking for part time work to supplement their income. Work is performed under regular supervision and in a team environment. The City has many parks and green spaces where you can earn some income and enjoy the outdoors.
Maintaining and repairing parks, public grounds, operating a variety of equipment, mowers and trucks.

Temporary position with the City of Jacksonville which will run through December 19 working 40 hours per week up to 1000 hours. Flexible start and end dates.

- Mows parks, public grounds and rights-of-way.
- Plants, maintains and trims plants and trees.
- Maintains athletic fields and facilities.
- Cleans and maintains park facilities and equipment.
- Ensures the proper maintenance of equipment and tools by cleaning and checking equipment and tools after use.
- Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to supervisor; cleans equipment.
- Operates a variety of power construction and maintenance equipment used in the performance of tasks.
- Performs related tasks as required.

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school. Some knowledge of the maintenance, repair and manual tasks of the area assigned; some knowledge in the use of common and specialized hand and power tools required in the work; some knowledge of the safe use and operation and preventive maintenance of mechanical equipment required in the work; ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, often under unfavorable weather conditions; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.Equal Employment Opportunity
