Jacksonville Station is a new 15,000 square foot multi-modal transportation center that will serve as the operational home for Jacksonville Transit, while also improving efficiency and connectivity among all public transportation agencies that serve our community. All modes of transportation are serviced in this new facility with a taxi, Uber and Lyft service area, connections to Greyhound and Amtrak, and serve as a trail head for our Greenways.
General Description: The City of Jacksonville is looking for a Part-time Transit Customer Service Specialist to provide real time information on the Jacksonville Transit System to patrons using the City's services. Accustomed to working in a fast-paced environment and takes a proactive approach to customer service. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, and demonstrates a desire to go above and beyond in the delivery of service.

The Part-time Transit Customer Service Specialist performs responsible clerical/administrative work involving transit customer service and the preparation and/or maintenance of related records; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision of the Transit Customer Service Specialist III.Assisting customers with information requests; collecting and accounting for fees; preparing and maintaining files; performing office assistance and administrative support tasks. (These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. - Takes applications for ADA Paratransit Services and transfers to contractor.
- Takes applications for Reduced Fare ID Cards.
- Generates Reduced Fare ID Cards for customers once approved.
- Accepts payments for sale of transit tickets/passes.
- Receives customer inquiries, searches out information, answers customer questions.
- Greets walk in public and provides assistance
- Maintains registration system; collects and accounts for fees.
- Types service orders, requisitions and correspondence.
- Prepares and maintains files and databases.
- Operates typewriter, calculator, computer and other standard office equipment incident to maintaining records.
- Performs related tasks as required.
