OBJECTIVE :
Under the general supervision of the Patrol Supervisor this non-sworn position performs the duties of Animal Control services, parking enforcement, ordinance enforcement, and at the direction of his / her supervisor, performs other duties that do not require a sworn police officer to perform.
RELATIONSHIPS :
Reports to : Police Sergeant
Has work contacts with City elected and appointed officials, Department, Division, and Office Heads, City employees, and the general public.
Supervises : Has no regular supervisory duties.
Essential Duties
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Conducts parking enforcement in the Central Business District, issues parking citations for parking violations as set forth in the General Ordinances of the City of Janesville.
- Conducts investigations of selected violations of the General Ordinances of the City of Janesville as determined and directed by the Police Sergeant.
- Assists sworn officers in other parking enforcement and / or control matters.
- Responds to animal related calls for service, as assigned, including confiscating, chasing, capturing, rendering aid to, and / or securing a feral or domesticated animal, as well as transporting and releasing to owner or admittance to an animal hospital.
- Prepares a variety of daily and other reports related to crimes, accidents, and other duties; maintains logs, completes forms, and prepares reports, as requested.
- Reports any criminal activity to supervisory personnel.
- Counsels those seeking help and assists them to determine the most appropriate resources.
- Other duties as assigned or required before or after the regular work day.
- Follows all safety regulations, policies, and procedures; reports all unsafe conditions and acts to supervisor; reports all accidents to the supervisor immediately whenever possible; follows recognized safe work practices.
- Performs other special projects and other job duties as assigned or required during regular and non-business hours.
- All employees may be assigned by the City Manager or their designee to perform duties and assume responsibilities that are outside the scope of their work duties when the City Manager has declared a City disaster or the City Emergency Operations Center has been initiated.

A flexible, Monday - Sunday, 20-hour work schedule is required for this position.
