OBJECTIVE:

Under general supervision of the Recreation Programmer and on sight guidance/supervision of the Head Lifeguards/Aquatic Supervisor, the Pool Cashier/Concessions Attendant is responsible for handling admission sales, cash handling procedures, food handling procedures, and providing general customer service. Individual will work at both Rockport and Palmer Pools.


RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports to: Directly to the Head Guard/Aquatic Supervisor and indirectly or the Recreation Programmer.


Has work contact with appointed and elected City officials, Department, Division, and Office Heads, City employees, and the general public.


Supervises: Has no regular supervisory duties.

  1. Answers the telephone and provides accurate information.
  2. Sells food and beverages and follows proper cash handling procedures.
  3. Sells and promotes daily and seasonal pool passes 
  4. Oversees cleanliness and sanitation of concession stand and concession area in accordance with Rock County Health Regulations.
  5. Greets the public and provides excellent customer service. 
  6. Adheres to proper pool admission procedures.
  7. Records successful deep-water pass candidates properly.
  8. Adheres to proper food handling procedures. 
  9. Records attendance accurately and completes required paperwork.
  10. Maintains proper use and clean-up of concession equipment
  11. Plays a role in emergency care by calling for help if requested to do so.
  12. Handles admission and/or concession purchase transactions on a cash register or point of sale system.  Completes a nightly cash drawer reconciliation accounting for all transactions.
  13. Reports any issues to the supervisor.
  14. Attends and participates in all mandatory staff and facility trainings. 
  15. Follows all safety regulations, policies, and procedures; reports all unsafe conditions and acts to supervisor; reports all accidents to the supervisor immediately whenever possible; follows recognized safe work practices.
  16. Performs other special projects and other job duties as assigned or required during regular and non-business hours.
  17. All employees may be assigned by the City Manager or their designee to perform duties and assume responsibilities that are outside the scope of their work duties when the City Manager has declared a City disaster or the City Emergency Operations Center has been initiated.
OTHER DUTIES:
  1. Stocks and cleans bathrooms, guard room, and pool area as needed.
  2. Enforces facility policies.
  3. Accurately completes all inventory/order forms.
  4. Restocks product prior to completion of shift.
  5. Performs other duties as assigned.
The requirements listed below are necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
  1. Must be 16 years of age or older.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
The qualifications listed below are preferred, but not required to perform the essential duties of the position. The absence of these qualifications on a candidate’s application does not preclude them from consideration.
  1. Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications preferred.
  2. Experience working with a cash register or customer service preferred.
A combination of equivalent experience and/or education as determined by the Human Resources Office may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements.

EQUIPMENT, INSTRUMENTS, AND MACHINES:
Equipment used includes a cash register, computer with point of sale system, microwave, nacho/pretzel warmer, snow cone machine, slushy machine, fridge, and freezer.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL FACTORS:

1.   Work will take place in an outdoor environment and varying types of weather, including possibility of high heat and humidity.
2.   Working conditions involve occasional exposure to dirt, dust, and moisture.
3.   Perform basic activities, which may include, but not limited to: lifting, stooping, semi-reaching to full-reach overhead, crouching, kneeling, bending, twisting,            turning, and lying on stomach and/or back.   
4.   Must be able to sit or stand and move for long periods of time.
5.   See and observe all sections of an assigned area of responsibility, with or without reasonable accommodation.
6.   Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
