Under general supervision and guidance of the Recreation Supervisor, the Softball Supervisor is responsible for enforcing league rules, policies and procedures, providing support to umpires and concession staff as needed and providing customer service to adult league players and patrons. Adult softball leagues are played at Dawson Softball Complex from May through August, Sunday, Monday, and Friday evenings (potentially Thursday evenings). (Approximately 5-15 hours per week)

RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to: Recreation Supervisor
Works with seasonal employees regularly and communicates with other Division employees, players, spectators and the general public.
- Handles facility opening and closing procedures.
- Greets team managers and reviews rosters and ensures player eligibility.
- Inspects and stickers softball bats according to ASA standards.
- Understands and Interprets rules and regulations to teams.
- Maintains a presence throughout the facility, communicating with players and spectators while addressing concerns as needed.
- Makes general announcements via intercom system.
- Enforces the player code of conduct.
- Makes decisions with umpires on duty to call games due to weather or other safety concerns.
- Handles emergency situations and injuries and responds appropriately.
- Prepares required documents, including nightly reports, injury reports and incident reports. Turns in documents, including scoresheets to office.
- Reports any issues to Supervisor.
1. Assists with base removal as needed.
2. Assists in concession stand as needed.The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform the essential duties of the position.
Education, Certifications and Experience:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification or willing/able to obtain.
1. The sport of softball, including ASA rules.
Ability to:
- Ability to work evenings and some weekends for tournaments.
- Be motivated and dependable.
- Ability to follow City/Division policies, work independently and make sound decisions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City employees, staff, players and patrons.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in verbal and written form, and to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and within the boundaries of responsibility.
- Maintain a positive behavior and professional demeanor at all times; address resident and customer concerns in a helpful, courteous manner.
- Ability to interact with a diverse group of individuals.
- Ability to comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures, and report all unsafe activities or conditions to supervisor.
EQUIPMENT, INSTRUMENTS AND MACHINES:
Equipment used includes a telephone, scoreboard, and potentially using the field groomer and chalker if assisting at tournaments.
PHYSICAL FACTORS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by any an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
1. Work will take place in an outdoor environment and varying types of weather, including
possibility of high heat and humidity.
2. Working conditions involve occasional exposure to dirt, dust, and moisture.
3. Perform clean-up duties, which may include, but not limited to:
Semi-reaching to full-reach overhead, crouching, kneeling, bending, twisting, turning,
and lying on stomach and/or back.
4. Must be able to sit or stand and move for long periods of time.
5. See and observe all sections of an assigned area of responsibility, with or without
reasonable accommodation.
