What are the responsibilities and job description for the Exercise Instructor position at City of Jefferson?
The City of Jefferson is currently accepting applications for an Exercise Instructor for our Parks and Recreation Department. This position will lead, instruct, and motivate groups in specific exercise programs, including cardiovascular exercise, strength training, and stretching while performing all duties in a safe, prudent and timely manner. Facilitate and guide class participants using positive characteristic traits.
Greet class participants.
Conduct specific fitness instructional activities to meet the needs of the community.
Prepare progressive exercise lesson plans.
Set up and return equipment to appropriate location.
Report malfunctioning equipment or other maintenance issues.
Record attendance and maintain proper class records.
Make recommendations for future fitness classes and/or changes in current schedule.
Perform other duties as assigned.Physical: Employee must be capable of executing the physical activity required to successfully instruct his or her specified class(es).
General knowledge of the principles and practices of Parks and Recreation program and facility operations, management, maintenance and procedures.
Must be able to motivate and have good communication skills.
Previous exercise instructor experience preferred.
Knowledge of group fitness teaching strategies.
Must be able to obtain the Walk with Ease certification through the arthritis foundation prior to the classes starting. Training is available upon hire through the Parks and Recreation Department.
Current CPR, AED and First Aid certification is required.
Must have valid Missouri's drivers' license.
This position pays $20.75-$30.75 per class depending on teaching experience.
