What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pool Management position at City of Jefferson?
The City of Jefferson is currently accepting applications Pool Management positions include: Pool Managers, Assistant Managers, Head Guards and Lesson Coordinators for our Parks and Recreation Department. These seasonal positions works at Memorial Park Family Aquatic Center and/or Ellis-Porter Riverside Pool to provide day to day operations and administration of the pools.
Supervise all aquatic facility staff according to established policies and guidelines.
Ensure all rules, regulations and safety practices are properly enforced.
Maintain effective customer service skills.
Provide correct, courteous answers to telephone and verbal inquiries.
Maintain open lines of communication with management staff, aquatic employees, and program supervisor.
Conduct safe, efficient operation of the aquatic facility, including equipment operations.
Collect and accurately report all fees.
Attend in-service trainings, special pool programs and events.
Assist with department wide special programs and events when needed.
Complete and submit all necessary reports.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Managers:
Responsible for running day to day operations; hold training & safety meetings for all employees under their direct supervision to insure employees are properly trained; prepare schedules for facility and staff; chemical analysis and application; report any incidents to Program Manager and responsible for disciplinary actions with staff.
Assistant Manager:
Responsible for assisting the manager by helping run day to day operations; responsible for running the facility in the managers absence; conduct in-service meetings to insure employees are properly trained and chemical analysis and application when needed.
Head Guards:
Provides overall direction of the pools by lifeguarding; all lifeguard duties apply to this position; ability to run the facility in the managers or assistant managers absence; help train staff in preseason training and assist in leading in service meetings; chemical analysis and application when needed.
Lesson Coordinators:
Oversee the swim lesson program; schedule instructors for upcoming lesson sessions; oversee all swimming lessons; run preseason training classes; promotes accident prevention at the pool and complete all evaluations for swimming patrons and instructors.
Applicants should be at least 18 years of age.
Current StarGuard Lifeguard Certification required.
Current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification preferred.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Excellent customer service/customer relation skills.
Managers:
Requires previous lifeguard experience in aquatics and supervision of employees; ability to lead and motivate staff.
Assistant Manager:
Requires previous lifeguard experience in aquatics and supervision of employees; ability to lead and motivate staff.
Head Guards:
Requires at least one year experience as Lifeguard; ability to lead and motivate staff when required.
Lesson Coordinators:
Must have at least 3 years' experience as swim instructor.
Must be willing to lifeguard or teach swimming lessons when needed.
Must be available for preseason training dates and pool closing dates.
Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Participate and run weekly in-service trainings.
The salary depends on the specific job title. The starting hourly salary is listed per job title:
Managers $15.30

Pools are open 6 - 13 hours per day, seven days per week, including holidays. Schedules vary up to 40 hours per week with weekend and holidays required.
