What are the responsibilities and job description for the Street Maintenance Worker position at City of Jefferson?
The City of Jefferson is currently accepting for two Street Maintenance Workers for our Public Works Department, Street Division. This position maintains City-owned streets and sidewalks, performs street sweeping, snow removal, right-of-way mowing, routine maintenance on equipment.
Performs scheduled maintenance, cleaning and repairs on City streets, rights-of-ways, curb, gutters, alleys, medians, storm water drainage systems, and retention basins.
Repairs and maintains city streets by patching asphalt, concrete, and gravel streets.
Operates equipment such as backhoes, loaders, bobcat, dump truck, boom truck and brush hog.
Physical: Ability to work in extreme weather conditions; lift, carry, push and pull up to 100 pounds stand for extended periods; and operate backhoes, loaders, bobcat and dump truck.
Mental: Ability to be on call 24 hours a day for emergency purposes; follow directions; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; and organize equipment requirement necessary for daily jobs.
Requires a high school diploma and one year experience in construction and equipment maintenance and repair.
Must have Missouri CDL Class A or B with air brakes and tank endorsement within 6 months of hire.
Specific job title and salary depend upon qualifications. Minimum starting salary for a Trainee is $16.54 per hour and maximum salary for a Senior Street Maintenance Worker is $27.36 per hour.
This position is eligible for GI Bill benefits upon approval of the VA.
