What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tennis Instructors position at City of Jefferson?
The City of Jefferson is currently accepting applications for Tennis Instructors for our Parks and Recreation Department. This position leads lessons during the summer months and is responsible for instructing tennis patrons on tennis rules and techniques. Instructors:
Responsible for coordinating, planning, and teaching tennis lessons to program participants.
Instructing program participants in the use of equipment, body movement, and rules and regulations of the game of tennis.
Provides basic tennis instruction (i.e., forehand and backhand swing, stroke development, scoring, rules, etiquette, and shot placement) to adults and/or children in a group setting and one-on-one.
Observes practices, detects and corrects mistakes, and maintains attendance records.
Instructors must also exercise tact and courtesy in frequent contact with program participants, parents, employees, volunteers, and the general public.
Must be able to work well with children and follow verbal instructions.
Insures that court rules and proper tennis etiquette is being followed.
Physical: Must be in good physical condition with the ability to lift 30 pounds.
Mental: Ability to clearly and effectively communicate.
Required to attend mandatory training and staff meetings.
Provide excellent customer service and communications skills to other staff members and participants.
Instructors:
Must be at least 16 years of age.
Tennis lessons are held Monday - Friday from 8AM to 10AM.
The anticipated starting salary for Instructors is $14.15 an hour.
