What are the responsibilities and job description for the Utility Maintenance Worker - Wastewater Plant position at City of Jefferson?
Performs building and grounds maintenance on City owned property and facilities including mowing, snow removal, painting, minor carpentry, grading, seeding, tree trimming, and removal of waste material.
Performs general daily inspection, cleaning and maintenance tasks necessary to keep vehicles, equipment, and tools in operable condition, which may include inspecting equipment, checking fluid levels, replacing fluids, greasing equipment, replacing parts, washing and cleaning equipment, or cleaning work areas; monitors equipment operations to maintain efficiency and safety.
Performs work in a safe manner, wearing protective gear including masks, goggles, aspirator, boots, rubber gloves, and hearing protection.
Requires a high school diploma; and experience in equipment maintenance and repair, preferred.
Must have a MO CDL Class B with air brakes within 6 months of hire, training will be provided. Must be able to obtain Class "D" Wastewater Certification within 6 months of hire. On the job training is provided.
Physical: Ability to work in extreme weather conditions; lift, carry, push, pull up to 100 pounds; stand for extended periods; operate, loaders, bobcat, tandem dump truck, brush hog, vacuum flusher, jet rodder, root saw and grouting machine.
This position works Monday - Friday from 7:30AM to 4:00PM with a rotating stand-by schedule. Employees working stand-by will receive stand-by pay of $16.60 per day during the weekday and $41.50 per day on weekends.
Specific job title and salary depend upon qualifications. Minimum starting salary for a Utility Maintenance Trainer is $15.75/hr. and maximum salary for a Senior Utility Maintenance Worker is $26.04/hr.
