Normal Work Hours: 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Normal Work Days: Monday through Friday
Education/Experience
Education: Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED. Minimum 1 year work experience as a qualified CDL-A or B driver. The equivalent combination of education, skill, experience and training may be considered.
Position Summary Operates department vehicles and equipment to remove snow, ice, garbage, limbs and debris from City streets and property. Transports paving materials to/from work sites. Clean, maintain and secure all equipment as directed by policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other related duties may be assigned.
Operate vehicles in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life.
Perform daily safety and maintenance checks. Meet deadlines while maintaining safe equipment operations. Plows snow and removes ice from City streets and right of ways. Drives vehicles that haul brush/leaf/limbs for removal. Drives daily route to pick-up garbage and tree limbs. Operates street sweeper.
Maintain vehicles and equipment as scheduled and/or required. Clean equipment and vehicles, ensure equipment is safely and securely stored, advise supervisor of any requirements for maintenance or repairs, and participate in routine maintenance.
Operate the following equipment: Chain saws, rakes, shovels, brooms, weed eaters, front end loader, road grader, garbage truck, snow plows, dump truck, grapple truck, wood chipper, backhoe and other related equipment as needed.
Provide assistance with garbage collection (Tipper/General Laborer); debris removal, tree/bush trimming, cleaning City storm drains and related work.

Communication Ability to read and accurately interpret documents for safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Knowledge of/Ability to:
- Operate chain saws, rakes, shovels, brooms, weed eaters end loader, road grader, garbage truck, snow plows other related equipment as needed.
- Knowledge of relevant OSHA standards and safety procedures.
- Knowledge of two-way radio communication.
- Knowledge of tree trimming, pruning vegetation.
Licenses: Possess a valid driver’s license. Possess a class A or B CDL license.

Incumbent is required to wear gloves, safety toe shoes, safety glasses, welding glasses and rubber gloves, and hearing protection when required.
