Stormwater Manager
The City of Johns Creek seeks a qualified Stormwater Manager to lead the Stormwater Division and oversee the Stormwater Utility. This role is critical in managing the City's Stormwater Management Program, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and advancing the City's stormwater infrastructure through innovative and sustainable solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and management of stormwater, drainage, and water conveyance projects, ensuring timely delivery within scope, budget, and quality standards.
- Oversee the preparation of engineering plans, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports.
- Utilize stormwater system assessments and watershed master planning studies to prioritize maintenance and capital improvement projects.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to implement stormwater initiatives effectively.
- Provide oversight, mentorship, and guidance to staff to foster professional growth and productivity.
- Serve as the primary liaison to City leadership, providing briefings and updates on stormwater issues, projects, and initiatives.
- Manage contracts and review consultant work for accuracy, professionalism, and compliance with standards.
- Respond to public inquiries and emergency calls regarding stormwater system issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
- Collaborate with various City departments to deliver stormwater projects and initiatives successfully.
- Oversee billing and collection of stormwater utility fees in coordination with the Finance Department.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal standards, including inspections and reporting requirements.
- Stay current on industry trends, policies, and best practices in stormwater management.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, or a related field.
- Five (5) years of experience in stormwater engineering or a related field.
- Five (5) years of experience in hydrology, hydraulic analysis, drainage design, and watershed modeling.
- Valid Georgia driver's license.
- Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission (GSWCC) Erosion and Sediment Control Certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in civil, environmental, or related fields.
- Eight (8) years of experience in stormwater engineering, including hydrology and watershed modeling.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License.
- Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission (GSWCC) Certified Design Professional/Plan Reviewer.
- Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM) Certified Floodplain Manager.
- Proven project management experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Expertise in stormwater and drainage engineering design, modeling, and management.
- Ability to prepare and review detailed plans, cost estimates, and technical reports.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in team management and mentoring.
- Knowledge of industry best practices and emerging trends in stormwater management.
- Strong technical writing, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Special Requirements:
- Ability to travel to facilities and external agencies as needed.
- Availability to respond to emergency stormwater issues during or outside of regular work hours.
