Part-Time Park Attendant (Trail Maintenance)

The City of Johnson City, Tennessee is accepting online applications for a Part-Time Park Attendant in the Trail Maintenance division with Parks & Recreation. The employee performs responsible unskilled building cleaning tasks; does related work as required. This is repetitive manual work requiring efficient performance of simple building cleaning and maintenance duties. A Park Attendant works under general supervision on routine recurring assignments, receiving specific instructions on each new or unusual assignment. The work is reviewed by inspection.

Essential Functions of Position:

• sweeps, mops and buffs floors, and vacuums carpets;
• washes windows and polishes furniture;
• picks up paper and debris on grounds;
• makes minor repairs to building, building equipment and furniture;
• empties trash cans and cleans containers;
• cleans and supplies bathrooms;
• sweeps and shovels snow;
• mows grass and performs related grounds and maintenance tasks;
• assists with landscaping and upkeep of the grounds;
• ensures building and park security;
• sets-up tables, chairs, and other equipment or supplies; cleans-up after activities take place;
• dusts/washes furniture, tables, chairs, counters, vending machines;
• provides assistance with special activities and events;
• may assist participants, dispatch vehicles;
• may fuel, clean and maintain vehicles;
• performs related tasks as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Some working knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies and equipment, and ability to use them economically and efficiently; ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions; and thoroughness.

Acceptable Experience and Training: Completion of high school or GED and some building cleaning experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Pre-employment physical, drug screening and background check required.
