Full-time position available with the Fire Department, Professional Development Division located at 6750 Eastwood Trafficway

Salary Range: $54.51-$61.42/hour

Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the administration, organization, and supervision of the educational program.
  • Performs long range planning and ongoing program development, completing quality review to improve the educational program.
  • Manages the academic oversight, including curriculum planning and development, orientation, training, and supervision of instructional faculty, clinical and field preceptors.
  • Cooperates work with the medical director.
  • Serves as the primary contact between the training site and all EMS education related accreditors, regulatory and certifying bodies.
  • Manages budget for Paramedic program.
  • Facilitates hiring and manages program instructional staff.
  • Maintains statistical data for Paramedic program as required for CQI and accreditation activities.
  • Maintains liaison with Medical Director and Paramedic Program Advisory Committee.
  • Remains familiar with KCFD policy and procedure.
  • Addresses significant changes to curriculum or course schedule, including any deviations or exceptions of course policies for example make-up assignments, course deadlines or completion requirements.
  • Manages courses that are overseen, licensed, and accredited by Missouri State Regulations via the Bureau of EMS and National Accreditation via the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, Committee on Accreditation of EMS Programs.
  • Pursues and maintains certification and education requirements for the program as directed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree and two years of paramedic instructional experience and maintains CoAEMSP Standard III.B.1.b. Program Director Qualifications and Missouri Lead Instructor Qualifications (per 19 CSR 30-40.331). Must possess all of the following certifications/licenses:

  • Level 2 Instructor Certificate from National Association of EMS Educators
  • Instructor Essentials Certificates, Faculty and Training Site Coordinator from the American Heart Association
  • Critical Care Certificate
  • Paramedic Certificate
  • Must possess standard paramedic skills to include those in the National EMS Scope of Practice and National EMS Standards
  • Missouri EMT-P
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers Instructor
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support Instructor

Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.

Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
