Maintenance Worker (Athletics)

Full-time position available with the Parks & Recreation Department, Community Services Division located at 4600 East 63rd Street
Salary Range: $16.12-$24.58/hour
Normal Work Days/Hours: Hours will vary, Monday-Thursday, 12:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m., Friday-Sunday, 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.

• Handles upkeep and repair of athletic fields within the Parks system.
• Mows grass and lines fields for different sports.
• Removes debris.
• Installs and maintains sports equipment.
• Inspects and reports any damaged or malfunctioning equipment
• Manages irrigation systems.
• Ensures the safety and playability of the fields for various athletic activities.
• Maintains cleanliness of dugouts, bleachers, and surrounding areas.
• Adheres to safety regulations and reporting to a supervisor within the Parks and Recreation department.
• Perform minor repairs on park facilities related to athletic fields.
• Reports potential hazards or safety concerns.
• Follows established guidelines for field maintenance and usage.
• Performs work primarily outdoors, exposed to varying weather conditions.
• Occasionally works weekends and holidays depending on scheduling needs.
• Maintain restrooms cleanliness, keeping restrooms stocked.
• Other duties assigned by supervisor.

REQUIRES high school graduation OR at least 16 years of age. May be required to possess a valid state-issued driver’s license in accordance with City of KCMO policies. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen as prescribed by the City.

Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.

Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
