Full-time position available with the Law Department, Domestic Violence Division located 511 E. 11th Street
Salary Range: $24.77-$37.16/hour
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. *Episodic telework schedule available after 6-month probationary period completed

• Attends court dockets to check in victims/witnesses, updates contact and case information and answers any questions they may have about the proceedings.
• Serves as liaison between victims, prosecutors and law enforcement.
• Notifies victims after court hearings of results; provides referrals to social service agencies in the community.
• Assists victims with case status, Crime Victims’ Compensation, Victim Impact Statements, and T & U Visa applications.
• Assists shelter advocates with contacting victims in need of services.
• Assists attorneys in trial preparation, case management, notifications, warrant applications, and bond violations.
• Takes emergency requests from victims in crisis seeking assistance with bond/probation violations.
• Tracks all working time for grant reporting purposes.
• Performs other job duties as assigned.

REQUIRES an accredited Associate's degree or certificate in paralegal studies (sometimes also called legal assistant or other similar terms); OR an accredited Bachelor's degree; OR high school graduation and 3 years of experience working in a law office performing administrative work.

Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.

Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
