Work within prescribed standards and procedures with some leeway for independent judgment. Essential Functions Modify and update existing layers and databases; assist in the design, development and creation of new data layers; perform GIS operations using ArcGIS Desktop software; assist in the design, development and creation of web mapping applications using ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise Portal; assist field staff in collection and curation of GIS data; use cartography to create location maps, infrastructure maps and various display items using ArcGIS; interpret & research legal documents, plans, drawings and apply the information to the maintenance of varied GIS-based data; collect field data with the use of a Global Positioning System (GPS) and ArcGIS field software; Perform other duties as assigned.SUPERVISION - RESPONSIBILITY FOR WORK OF OTHERS : None.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS : Establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, officials and the public. Qualifications MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS : Associates degree or equivalent coursework in Geographic Information Science, Geography, Computer Science, Environmental Science or related field with 1 year of experience using ArcGIS software. Preferred : Bachelor's Degree or higher in Geographic Information Science, Geography or related field with 3 years of experience using ArcGIS; knowledge / experience using : GPS equipment, ArcGIS field collection software, Web mapping with ArcGIS Online, Web mapping with ArcGIS Enterprise Portal, and SQL databases. Valid Nebraska Driver's License required.RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS : None. New employees receive 40 hours of vacation upon hire with biweekly accruals beginning on the sixth month of employment. Vacation leave may accumulate to a maximum of 240 hours. Medical Leave : Medical leave is accrued at a biweekly rate equal to 12 days a year. New employees receive 40 hours of medical leave upon hire with biweekly accruals beginning on the sixth month of employment. Medical leave may accumulate to a maximum of 1,440 hours. Parental Leave : 3 weeks paid leave. Personal Leave : 2 personal days are provided on the first of every calendar year. Employees must be employed on January 1st to receive personal leave days. Unused personal leave does not carry over to the next year.Holidays : Twelve paid holidays per year.Military : Active members receive 120 hours of military leave annually.
