Job Responsibilities

- Attend court sessions every Tuesday from 8am until court session is complete.
- Prepare courtrooms for court sessions by ensuring that all necessary materials, documents, and equipment are available and ready.
- Announce the opening and closing of court sessions.
- Maintain order and decorum within the courtroom during proceedings. Assist in enforcing courtroom rules and procedures to ensure the smooth conduct of trials and hearings.
- Monitor the courthouse and courtroom to ensure the safety of the public, staff, and judges.
- Respond promptly to any emergencies or security incidents within the courthouse. Quickly respond to urgent tasks and shifting priorities, ensuring that all areas are appropriately supported.
- Assist the judge and court clerks with courtroom needs, including document retrieval, delivery, and any other requirements during court sessions. Aid other court personnel as needed to ensure efficient operations.
- Provide support to the citizens of the City of Kennesaw, which includes, but not limited to, assisting the Municipal Court Judge, Solicitor, City of Kennesaw Police Department, and various other government agencies.
- Assist individuals in completing and filing legal documents, ensuring that they comply with court rules and procedures.
- Operate a personal computer, general office equipment, or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions, to include the use of word processing, spreadsheet, database, or other system software.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Clerk of Court.
- Understanding of court regulations, processes, and the role of the justice system.
- Familiarity with courtroom decorum and the roles of various personnel (judges, lawyers, etc.).
- Knowledge of techniques to de-escalate conflicts and manage difficult situations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to clearly convey information and instructions.
- Ability to interact positively and effectively with diverse individuals, including judges, attorneys, and the public.
- Keen observational skills to monitor courtroom activities and identify potential issues.
- Ability to assess situations quickly and make sound judgments.
- Capacity to remain on foot for extended periods and handle physical tasks as needed.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and empathize with individuals in stressful situations.
- Strong focus on following procedures accurately to uphold legal standards.
Requirements

- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training in law enforcement, court procedures, or related field preferred.
