What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Events Intern position at City of Kenosha?
This internship will be 20 Hours per week for 24 weeks
Under the supervision of the Community Relations Liaison, assists with city special event projects and provides moderately complex, specialized clerical support to the department. Work is reviewed through conferences and written reports for adherence to established goals, objectives, policies, procedures and guidelines. Performs other work as requested. Incumbent may have the opportunity to develop additional expertise in assigned areas.
- Assists in coordinating special events and providing directions to participants. Works collaboratively with the City Administration, other divisions, volunteers and committees.
- Assists in community engagement and coordinating volunteers for projects in the City of Kenosha Parks.
- Answers telephone and receives inquiries and/or complaints, providing information based on considerable knowledge of programs and activities, or referring callers to appropriate personnel, as necessary; routes messages for Department personnel, as necessary.
- Greets citizens, visitors or customers and directs to proper unit or provides customer service; provides specific information and assistance related to programs or services provided by the assigned area.
- Utilizes computerized data entry equipment and various word processing, spreadsheet and/or file maintenance programs to enter, store and/or retrieve information as requested or otherwise necessary; summarizes data in preparation of standardized reports.
- Types material from typed or handwritten copy, which requires the use of a variety of standardized formats for preparing correspondence, reports, schedules, records, minutes, etc.; assumes responsibility for correctness of spelling, punctuation, grammar and format.
- Currently enrolled in an accredited university studying Communications, Public Relations, Business or a related field.
- Must have keyboard skills and proficiency with a varied range of computer application programs.
- Must be able to type at a rate consistent with departmental needs.

- Must be able to work some evenings and weekends.

- Good public relations skills: the ability to work independently under close supervision.
- Considerable skill in oral and written communication.

- Considerable computer and electronic communication skills.
- Ability to handle reasonably necessary stress.
Physical Requirements
- Task involves some physical effort: some standing and walking, or frequent light lifting (5 - 10 pounds); or minimal dexterity in the use of fingers, limbs, or body in the operation of shop or office equipment.
- The task may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard.

Salary : $17
