Adaptive Recreation Day Camp Counselor

2 Positions Available)

Hours : 38-40 hours per week

Camp runs from June 23-August 8, 2025

Mandatory Training Dates : June 18, 20, and 21, 2025

Mandatory Parent Night : June 20, 2025

Interviews : Will be scheduled as applications are received

Must be available for in-person interviews.

Hourly Rate : $18.25-19.25, depending on experience

Duties : Under the direction of the Adaptive and Youth / Teen Manager, Adaptive Coordinator, and Co-Directors, plan and lead daily activities for children entering grades 4-6 (Fall 2025) with developmental and / or physical disabilities. Camp consists of a maximum of 5 campers and 1-2 staff members. Activities include field trips, sports, games, arts, and crafts.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Possess a valid CPR and Standard First Aid Card by start date.
• Must be enthusiastic, energetic, reliable, trustworthy, and remain calm under pressure.
• Ability to be sensitive and responsive to the needs of all the campers.
• Ability to work as a member of a team and accomplish tasks with little direct supervision.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple distractions and competing priorities.
• Applicants are subject to Washington State background check.
• Other requirements include three personal and / or work references.

Physical Requirements

Temporary employees with the City of Kent do not receive insurance or time off benefits outside of those which are legally mandated. In certain instances, temporary employees may be eligible for retirement benefits through the State of Washington's Department of Retirement Systems.
